A Hands-On Cooking Class in Copenhagen🇩🇰 (in English)
🍙 Experience the Soul Food that Keeps Japan Healthy
In Denmark, the “Onigiri” craze has arrived! But did you know that these iconic rice balls are more than just a snack? They are the heart of Japanese home cooking — a perfect balance of nourishment, tradition, and seasonal care.
Join us for a hands-on culinary workshop where we dive into the secrets of a classic Japanese family table. While these dishes are beloved for their flavor, we will also explore them through the lens of Japanese Wellness (Yakuzen), how everyday ingredients can support your body as we transition into spring.
🍙 On the Menu
🍙 The Perfect Onigiri
Master the technique of shaping rice by hand and discover the secrets to cooking the perfect pot of Japanese rice at home (with simple tips and tricks!).
We will explore two classic fillings: savory Umami Kombu (kelp) and Flaky Grilled Salmon — Learn how to prepare and grill your own house-cured salted salmon to perfection—even in a simple frying pan!
🍗 Crispy Chicken Karaage
Learn the secret to making Japan’s favorite fried chicken — crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside. As one of Japan’s most beloved dishes, it is the ultimate soul food for spring and summer picnics, and a star of the “Bento” box. We will explore how to make it perfectly even for outdoor gatherings, including gluten-free friendly options.
🍲 Authentic Miso Soup
Beyond the instant packet! Learn the art of crafting “Dashi” (Japanese umami broth) from scratch using natural kombu and bonito flakes — the foundation of all Japanese flavors. We will also discuss the fermented power of miso for health, and how this traditional soup supports your daily well-being.
Whether you are a Japanese food enthusiast or a complete beginner, come and enjoy the mindful process of cooking and sharing a delicious, authentic meal.
